Claude Integration
Overview
Similarweb is now available as an official connector in Claude web and desktop. Once connected, Claude can access Similarweb's digital intelligence data directly within your conversations. Ask questions in plain language and get answers backed by real traffic, audience, keyword, and app data — no switching tabs, no exports, no manual lookups. The connector handles everything behind the scenes; all you do is authenticate once and start asking.
Example prompts you can use:
Traffic & Engagement
What was Netflix's global web traffic trend from October to December 2025? How did monthly visits, session duration, and bounce rate change over that period?
Competitive Intelligence
Compare Spotify's traffic channels in November 2025 — how much comes from direct, organic search, and social? Which channel drives the highest engagement?
App Intelligence
How many monthly active users does the Spotify Android app have in the US? Show the trend from October to December 2025.
Keyword & SEO Research
Who are HubSpot's top organic search competitors? What's the keyword overlap score between them?
MCP Access
The Similarweb Claude connector is powered by our MCP Server and it's available to clients with API access as part of their subscription. This includes:
- Business and Enterprise plan subscribers — API access is included as part of your plan.
- API standalone package subscribers — MCP access is included.
The data available through the MCP integration mirrors your existing Similarweb subscription. Access is scoped to the specific datasets, regions, and historical ranges included in your plan — no additional data is unlocked via MCP.

The connector is now enabled and you can ask questions as you normally would, Claude will automatically identify when to query Similarweb data.
Where to find your API key:
- Log in to the Similarweb platform → navigate to Settings & Help → Account → REST API → Copy your API key.

FAQ
Authentication & Access
Q: I entered my API key but the connector won't authenticate. What should I check?
Verify that your API key is copied correctly and that it's active in the Similarweb platform. Confirm that your Similarweb subscription includes API access. If the issue persists contact your account admin or reach out to Similarweb support.
Q: Can I use a Batch API key to activate the MCP connector?
Yes, your MCP connector will work with any API key as long as it's active.
Q: My plan includes Similarweb access but I don't see an API key. Why?
API access is included with Business and Enterprise plans and the API standalone package. If you can't generate your own key, reach out to your account manager to generate one for you.
Data & Querying
Q: What data can I access through the MCP integration?
The MCP integration provides access to 75+ endpoints, including website traffic and engagement metrics, traffic sources and channel mix, audience demographics, keyword and SEO data, competitive analysis, referral data, mobile app metrics (active users, downloads, sessions, revenue), and Amazon retail intelligence. Data access is governed by your Similarweb subscription.
Q: What is the most recent data available?
Most datasets are updated monthly, with data typically available for the prior month by the end of the following month. Some endpoints support daily granularity for more recent periods. Claude will indicate the last updated date in its response when querying Similarweb data.
Q: Can I query multiple domains or competitors in a single prompt?
Yes. Claude can run multiple Similarweb queries within a single conversation turn. For example, you can ask it to compare traffic for ten competitors side by side and it will retrieve and synthesize each dataset automatically.
Data Credits & Cost
Q: How does billing work for MCP queries?
Similarweb MCP queries consume data credits from your API allocation, following the same credit structure as the Similarweb REST API. The number of credits consumed depends on the volume of data returned — more granular queries (e.g., daily data over a long time period) or queries covering multiple metrics will consume more credits than simpler lookups.
Q: Where can I monitor my API credit usage?
Your API credit consumption is visible in the Similarweb platform under Account Settings → Data Credits Management. This reflects credits consumed across all API channels, including MCP.
Q: What happens if I run out of API credits?
Once your API credit allocation is exhausted for the billing period, MCP queries will return an error. Contact your Similarweb account manager to discuss increasing your credit limit or upgrading your plan.
Troubleshooting
Q: The connector shows as connected but Claude isn't returning Similarweb data.
Make sure all Similarweb tools (endpoints) under ‘Tool permissions’ in Claude are not set to ‘Blocked’. You can either set them to ‘Always allow’ or ‘Needs approval’ which will require you to approve access to these tools every time you use the connector. Q: Claude returned data but it looks different from what I see in the Similarweb platform.
Ensure you're querying the same country, date range, and web source (desktop vs. mobile vs. total) in both places. Slight differences in aggregation methodology between the platform UI and the API can account for minor variances. For data fidelity questions, contact Similarweb support.
