Locate Configuration File

In Claude Desktop: Settings —> Developer —>Edit Config. This opens claude_desktop_config.json

Configure MCP Server

Add the Similarweb MCP server to your configuration file.

Replace your-api-key with your actual Similarweb API key.

For existing configurations: If you already have MCP servers configured, add the similarweb entry to your existing mcpServers object without overwriting other servers.

Restart Claude Desktop

Close and restart Claude Desktop to load the new MCP server configuration.

Verify the MCP is working

Go to: Settings —> Connectors

Scroll until you see “similarweb-mcp” and make sure it's connected

Try out prompts in your Claude environment
